Silk was born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Ilkay Silk is the daughter of Peter Silk, an academic and Anna Silk, a director, actress, producer, playwright. The earliest memories of Anna were playing rehearsals and watching her mother perform. Silk was featured in many commercials as just a child. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Arts from St. Thomas University in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas has produced two shows in its initial years: Seven Menusand The Kitchen. Silk was able to move from Toronto on November 29, 1999 to Los Angeles during the next decade. Seth Cooperman was her future partner when she began to meet him in 2007 in an actor's workshop in Los Angeles. Following their engagement in 2008, they married in the year 2009. The couple got married in Fredericton on the 10th April of 2011, after her change to Judaism they exchanged vows in a Jewish wedding ceremony.
